Are You Obsessed With Your Feedback Score?
I love to help newbie sellers. It’s fun for me to watch them explore the eBay world with fresh eyes and wonder.
One area I find newbies obsess over is their eBay feedback score. Why? Why are you spending so much time on this subject? Feedback is a volunteer system. I’ve never been a big fan of it, never obsessed over it (except for that year where it actually DID matter) didn’t freak out if I wasn’t 100% and I rarely look at feedback when buying something.
It’s a legacy system that’s left in place because that’s what the platform was built on 20 years ago when all we had was trust and Feedback. Now we have buyer and seller protections and PayPal and pictures and lots of other things. I’ve been selling for over 19 years and I JUST HIT 6,000 in my feedback score…who cares!? I leave feedback for buyers as soon as they pay. Why? Because I can set it up to happen automatically. Stop spending so much time and energy on something that’s not terribly important to your business. List your items using great titles and pics, ship your items quickly and offer great customer service and the feedback you get, when you get it, will be good.
